regarding music submissions/details about record releases

First...Arius Blaze is a very picky man. Please send bangers and nothing else. "Beats" are discouraged but not denied entirely. Same goes for "noise" and many other common compositional occurances without any real intention. But specifically Folktek Records is not genre specific in the least = if you think it fits please send it along and let the man know what it's about when you do. Please don't be offended if Arius Blaze does not write back..

Specifics of what it means to put out a musical record on folktek records;

= record releases are hand cut individually by Arius Blaze with a total of 1-25 copies being cut. The artist get a number of cuts (artist cuts) as payment, several masters (master cuts) stay with Arius and the rest are sold through folktek records. Funding from the sales go to Arius for costs and labor as well as future cuts.

= individual records will be on average $40-$50; the cost is estimated at $25. the time to cut 25 records, plot the words and logo, draw the art with the geometric lathe, apply the center label, pack each record and package to ship is estimated at 15-20 hours

= the recording time alotted for each records is 1 minute per inch (eg. 10 minutes for a 10 inch, 12 minutes for a 12 inch) per side. These are strict recording times - it's not possible to squeeze 12.5 mintues into a 12" for example...However, it's completely okay to not use all 10 mintues of a 10 inch. two 4 minute tracks, one 7 minute track, etc.

= cuts are in mono but stereo tracks will be accepted and mixed down during the cut. Artists are encouraged to mix down in mono and review prior to submission to check for phasing issues and the likes (make sure it sound right).

= labeling for each release is done by Arius with a plotter and the art is created with the geometric lathe. The art for each copy of an individual release varies from cover to cover; an interpretation of a set of parameters.

= the artist can choose the color of ink for the geo lathe art, font, and a simple symbol capable of being plotted (no shades). Initially, the jackets were to be all brown - now they'll all be white. The cover design is relatively simple and in general I'd like to keep it that way.

= releases will not be put out digitally by Arius Blaze (though the tracks can be listened to on the site), but the artist retains all rights to do so via itunes or whatnot and the digital release can be linked from folktek records (for monetary gain to the artist or whatnot = money, money). In releasing digitally, please acknowledge that it's a folktek records release.

= Songs/tracks released on folktek records should otherwise stay exclusive to folktek records.

= the artist retains all rights to the music ( money, money, money, whatever, etc.)

= with the consent of the artist, tracks will be added to compilations to be put out in higher quantity pressed releases on folktek records

= the bulk percentage of any money earned from the future pressed releases will be dispersed among the artists (money, money)
